Corrections Counselor
GENERAL SUMMARY: To provide comprehensive bio-psychosocial assessments, level of care determinations, and mental health and chemical dependency counseling services.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
· Maintains a professional demeanor and knowledge of ethical standards, at all times;
· Screens clients to determine if they are appropriate and eligible for admission to services;
· Provides a bio-psychosocial assessment of participant’s strengths, weaknesses, problem areas and needs for the development of a treatment plan;
· Plan treatment strategy in collaboration with the client;
· Provides crisis intervention to the client during acute emotional and/or physical distress;
· Case manages by bringing services, agencies, resources, or people together within a planned framework of action toward the achievement of established goals;
· Identifies and makes referrals;
· Provides reports and record keeping;
· Consults with other professionals in regard to client’s treatment/services.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
· Licensed as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor in the State of Nebraska OR willing to become certified and complete core courses and receive provisional status within 12 months of position start date, required;
· Master degree in Human Services field, preferred;
· Licensed Mental Health Practitioner, preferred;
· Knowledge of community resources is preferred.
