Position Purpose: To provide advocacy for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault primarily at the Latina Resource Center and Latina community.
Accountability: This position reports directly to the Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Advocacy Coordinator.

Essential Responsibilities:

- Provide woman-defined advocacy (crisis intervention, referrals, and support) to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. These referrals are initiated but not exclusive to law enforcement, hospitals, social service agencies, and businesses.
- Maintain necessary client files.
- Maintain necessary statistics and provide these by the 5th of the month to the coordinator.
- Maintain a professional relationship with referring agencies.
- Keep current on issues of domestic violence and sexual assault.
- Keep current on community resources for women.
- Provide on call 24-hour coverage as assigned by rotation.
- Provide community presentations on advocacy for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
- Assist with the referral process and necessary paperwork for domestic violence victims seeking relief through LAN.
- Provide advocacy and outreach services to the Latino population.
- Systems advocacy work for the good of battered woman with an understanding of unintended consequences.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
List specific knowledge needed, specific skills needed, and specific abilities.
- A general knowledge of domestic violence
- Ability to provide written and verbal communication in Spanish
- Background in women’s issues and knowledge of community resources.
- An ability to work as an advocate in different settings such as but not limited to: criminal justice system, civil court, hospitals, outside agencies, and businesses.
- Strong problem solving skills required to assist women with safety planning.
- Ability to provide own transportation to meet victims at safe locations within the community.
- Flexible schedule that allows for 24 hour phone coverage and responding to crisis calls during assigned coverage periods.
Education and Experience (note preferred or required)
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, criminal justice, paralegal studies or related field (preferred)
- Complete WAV training (required)
- Basic computer skills (required)
