Position Description

Council Bluffs Community Health Center (CBCHC), located in Council Bluffs, Iowa, is currently seeking a full-time LPN to join our health care team.  This individual will work as part of the clinic team gathering patient information, preparing medical charts and supplies, performing laboratory procedures, and assisting other medical staff.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Obtain medical and/or social history and all vital signs and measurements as needed.
  • Pull, prepare, and file medical charts, and maintain smooth patient flow throughout clinic.
  • Performs routine procedures as required per patient visit (including EKGs and PPD placements/readings).
  • Assist providers with complex procedures (including vasectomies and minor surgeries).
  • Check laboratory controls, receive results, draw blood.
  • Prepare specimens for processing
  • Clean, stock and sterilize any and all equipment and rooms.
  • May perform as team leader as requested by the Nursing Director.
  • Schedule appointments as necessary and complete any necessary paperwork for such visits (including referrals and follow-ups).
  • Distribute medication to patients as directed by nursing staff and/or providers.
  • Gather patient information, records charges, indicated on the encounter form.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality, and provide patients with needed information.
  • Assist in training of Medical Assistants and in competency assessments.
  • Establish that each patient is advised of the sliding fee scale.
  • Perform other necessary duties required by the Nursing Director to meet the goal of providing primary health care.

Position Requirements:

  • Current LPN license required.
  • Minimum two years experience in clinic setting.
  • Written and verbal proficiency in English with verbal proficiency in Spanish required.
  • Radiology certification a plus.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity and understanding of patient needs.
  • Experience in clinic setting preferred.
