The Family Violence Program
The Family Violence Program serves victims of domestic violence and their minor, dependent children with services such as shelter, hotline, crisis counseling (for domestic violence and rape victims), referrals, advocacy, (court) support groups. Tennessee Head Start
Our Head Start program offers a comprehensive early childhood education experience to families in a four county area in southeast Tennessee. We proudly serve the needs of approximately 446 three and four year olds in Bradley, Polk, McMinn and Meigs Counties.
Head Start is a jump ahead; a beginning to school and to life outside a child’s home environment!
It began, nationally, as a part of the federal government’s plan to fight poverty. The fundamental belief was that disadvantaged children and their families can overcome adversity by participating in an early childhood program.
The program focuses on the intellectual, physical, nutritional, disabilities and socialization needs of the child. It also strives to provide assistance to the entire family by encouraging family involvement in all areas of Head Start. This parental component of the program is seen as the long term key to success for our clients.
Head Start seeks to give children a variety of experiences in a setting that is developmentally appropriate for their age and readiness levels, while at the same time offering parents the skills to become better providers and role models.
Georgia Head Start
Head Start is a federally funded program designed to serve low-income children ages birth - 5 years old and their families. It is a comprehensive child development program providing center-based activities for children in an environment of creative learning with the overall goal of developing social competence and increasing school readiness. Additionally, Head Start encourages family involvement and fosters healthy development of the family.
Family Resource Agency of North Georgia provides a variety of program options based on the needs of the families and the community, including extended hours and full day services for parents who work and/or attend school. We currently serve approximately 1,000 children in the northwest Georgia area.
