EMPLOYMENT SPECIALIST
The Employment Specialist will be responsible for assisting people with disabilities prepare for, seek, secure and maintain employment. The Employment Specialist also provides support for the employer through education and awareness presentations for employers and co-workers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in a related field and will have at least two years prior case management experience. Experience working with adults with disabilities is also preferred. This positions requires strong computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel. The candidate must also possess excellent organizational and communication skills. This position does require a significant amount of local travel and the candidate must have their own reliable transportation.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Coordinate job development for participants as assigned.
- Facilitates group and individual job readiness preparation including resume writing and interviewing skills.
- Assists the individual with the application process and obtaining the best references for employment.
- Helps the individual identify work interests and match transferable skills.
- Conducts weekly Job Club group meetings.
- Teach how to perform the job search, work habits and attitudes necessary to keep a job.
- Works closely with Vocational Rehabilitation & Career Center as well as other area agencies to ensure maximum support of individuals with disabilities during the quest for self-sufficiency and employment.
- Document all contacts with participants, family members, and businesses
- Write evaluations, case notes and reports on participants
- Arrange unpaid work experiences as necessary
- Complete monthly program/progress reports as assigned.
- Conduct follow up visits at least once a month or as often as necessary.
- Job coach as needed.
- Maintain participant files
- Represent the agency at expos, forums and other such venues.
- Attend consortium meetings
- Assist Adult Center staff with participant activities as needed
