Parenting Liaison - Child Care Resource & Referral Network

This position will support the referral, education, and training needs of all parents seeking quality child care, with a priority focus on teen parents and parents with children enrolled in programs accepting certificates. Will work closely with parents to understand the quality rating system and criteria for quality child care. These Specialists are located across the state, work from their home service area, and provide targeted technical assistance to the local CCR&R staff and/or child care providers across the state.
The Parenting Liaison, will be responsible for:
- Identifying the criteria for quality child care
- Educating parents seeking child care on the quality rating system
- Supporting parents and the local CCR&R staff in the referral process
- Researching the best practices in preventing child abuse and parenting and training Network Management Staff and/or local CCR&R staff on those topics
- Training CCR&R staff, teen parents and parents of children in child care who are funded through the certificate program, DHS staff, and other DHS or funder-requested groups
- Providing technical support to the local CCR&R staff
- Developing parent education materials and activities
- Assisting with seeking grant funds targeted to increase parenting initiatives within the CCR&R
- Coordinating parenting events in conjunction with local CCR&R’s
- Planning advanced leadership training in preventing child abuse for future TN-CCPT Train-the-Trainer Institutes
- Identifying & targeting child abuse prevention & parenting concerns for each service delivery area
- Analyzing on a regular basis research results on components of high quality child care in the state to identify areas to target for technical assistance
- Interacting with agencies that serve teen parents and parents of children participating in the certificate program to identify needs
- Coordinating the formation of parent support groups across the state
- Helping parents access the services of the local CCR&R to learn and obtain quality child care
This grant-funded position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related field; and at least 3 years of related experience. Must have knowledge of standard concepts, practices and procedures within the field. Position will be based out of a home office environment. Significant travel is required.
