Intersign was founded in 1979 as Financial Merchandisers Company, which originally sold changeable rate displays to local financial institutions. By 1987, the company, which was selling primarily interior room number, location, and directional signs to nursing homes nationwide, became incorporated as Intersign Corporation.
In the 1990’s, Intersign expanded its market focus to include assisted living facilities, hospitals, schools, libraries, and churches. Nine years later, Intersign purchased the assets of a similar company based in Memphis, TN, whose primary focus was the hotel/motel market. This location operated as a separate, whollyowned subsidiary of Intersign under the name of Hospitality Sign Company, LLC (HSC). In late 2001, the manufacturing operations were moved to Chattanooga, joining the Intersign production facility. The HSC division works closely with hospitality facilities, maintaining brand standard specifications.
Today, Intersign Corporation supports catalog distribution companies, architects, interior designers, contractors, and property management firms with one-on-one contact and e-commerce point-of-sales.
